A Good Week for Blake

I've heard all of the miserable stories about having teen-agers and feel lucky so far. Blake frustrates me some, but not near as much as my two year old. This past week at school, he was chosen to be the student of the week at Whitehouse Junior High. The teachers nominate students based on grades, effort, attitude, respect, etc. Only 32 kids (out of about 400) are chosen each year from each grade. I was really proud of him. Blake didn't seem to really care. He didn't even bother to tell me about it! I had to read about it on the marquis! Blake standing by the marquis in front of his school! I had to take this picture on Saturday afternoon when none of his friends were anywhere in sight.

This appeared in the local Whitehouse newspaper, "The Tri-County Leader." Blake looks a little scared. He said he was nervous during the interview, which is obvious with his football answer!

Later, this same week, Blake was inducted in to the National Junior Honor Society. Here he is with a bunch of his friends.
It was all I could do not to walk across the stage and accept his certificate for him. I know I've earned it in years past. Blake does deserve most of the credit this year. I know he does higher lever math than I could ever dream of!

Hi, remember me? Janine Thompson? I saw your comment on Candy's blog, so I follwed the links to your blog. How are you? And where are you? Right now I have a giant oatmeal breakfast mess forming behind me that I can no longer ignore - but I will come back and read more of your blog later.

And congrats to Blake - but isn't he still a little baby??

Me again. Your blog is very enjoyable, your kids are super cute (even with weird rashes), you have a fantastic new haircut, and I love your New Years resolutions. I could even live with most of them. But maybe not 5 nights of dinner...

I don't know how the church is out in East Texas...do you ever interact with members from Gilmer? James' stepbrother and wife live there (Rob and Rebecca Patton).

It is so good to catch up with people! You can link to Stacey Selle's blog from mine, and Amy Johnson has a private blog (you can email me at janine@thompsonhome.com and I can send you her email address). Let's see...Amy, Stacey, and Candy are about all I'm in touch with on any kind of regular basis. Oh - and I get Tamela's annual Christmas letter that fills me in on her life. Oh, and Lori Andres too. How about you?

I remember those Houston days very fondly. Maybe because I'm yearning for my lost youth? Life without teenagers? But I had so many good friends - we were all such good friends.
