Rated R - For Language Content

Tonight as I was getting Jacob ready for bed, I noticed some marker smeared across the knuckles of his hand. He excitedly showed me his fist and told me this trick he learned in school today! It went something like this... This is Bob (He holds up his knuckles) and then he smashed his hands together and explained, this is Bob when a car goes by... and then of course he laughs hysterically! I immediately gasped and picked myself off of the floor and asked to have a closer look at his hand. In very black permanent marker he had drawn the word THIS on his knuckles. Each letter had its own finger. Jacob however wrote the word backwards and reversed the middle two letters. So whenever he held up his hand into someone's face, profanity was just staring you down. I of course was mortified and Jacob had no idea what was wrong. He told me all of his friends had done the same thing and he even showed his teacher! I scrubbed Jacob's little fingers so hard with every kind of soap imaginable... all to no avail. Finally, I gave up and just got a permanent marker and scribbled the whole thing out. So now Jacob's knuckles are one big black mess! I wonder what his teacher will think tomorrow. If Jacob is not swearing in church, he's writing profanity on his hand. What to do?

Why do I shop at Walmart?

If you're ever in a hurry do not go to Walmart! Just yesterday I headed in there to pick up a few things before my kids got out of school. With only 30 minutes until school got out, I decided to expedite my shopping adventure and go through the self check out line! After scanning all of my items and juggling Emily in the cart, my grand total appeared on the screen and I swiped my card. That is when the nightmare began. The register would not stop blinking "completing transaction." With only 25 minutes to spare I waved down a clerk and asked for help. She was stunned and admitted she'd never seen a problem like that. Her answer was, "I guess the system is frozed up." So she went to the faraway offices to cancel the transaction and see if my card had been charged. Of course with my luck, my card was never charged and so I had to unbag all of my groceries and start over. Now I only had ten minutes to get to a school that is at least 15 minutes away on a good day! Finally, with my groceries and baby in tow, I flew out of the store, and threw my bags and baby into the car. I nicely put my cart in a yellow stripped zone and began to get in my car, when out of nowhere a crazy nuts elderly lady came running and screaming across the parking lot. She yelled something like,"don't you dare leave your cart there. What if it hit someone's car or even your car?" I could not believe my ears. Then she planted herself directly behind my car and demanded me to move the cart or she would not move from her spot. Feeling completely stunned and defeated, I ran the cart to the correct cart storage place about 10 minutes across the parking lot and ran back to the car. I wanted to run that darn lady over so badly, but I knew a trip to jail would only prolong my kid's pickup from school! Well, I was only about ten minutes late to pick up my kids and to top it off Jacob was so upset I was late because he was mourning his caterpillar's death. I'll save that story for another entry. Anyway, I guess all I can say is it will be a long time until I shop at Walmart again...at least until tomorrow!

Peer Pressure

OK...So I finally have a blog. I don't know why I am doing this because really I have no time to dedicate even a few minutes to the computer. (Hence the silly title) But after many requests from friends and family I decided to give it a try. This feels like the peer pressure from middle school. Another reason I am composing this blog is so that I can share my familes' triumphs and defeats, laugh at ourselves, and grimace at our frustrations. Hopefully I have enough time to share a few each week! So I'll give it a try.
